Winter in Mongolia is long and harsh, with temperatures ranging from -20°C to -50°C. Mongolian goats, camel & yaks are adapted to survive in this extreme weather condition with the help of their warm undercoat. In late spring, yaks, goats & camel shed their down naturally to prepare for the warmer temperature of summer months. This is when the nomadic herders hand-comb the animals to source this precious quality fiber.

Yak

Yaks are heavily built animals with bulky frames, sturdy legs, rounded, cloven hooves, and extremely dense, long fur that hangs down lower than the belly. While wild yaks are generally dark, blackish to brown in colouration, domestic yaks can be quite variable in colour, often having patches of rusty brown and cream. They have small ears and wide foreheads, with smooth horns that are generally dark in colour. In males (bulls), the horns sweep out from the sides of the head, and then curve backward; they typically range from 48 to 99 cm (19 to 39 in) in length.

Mongolian Goat

It’s only 13,0-16,5 microns in thickness, which is very thin. The thinner the fiber, the warmer it is. It is also softer. The length is 38–45 mm. These two parameters make Mongolian cashmere the best in the world.

Mongolian Camel Wool

We obtain this wool by combing two-year old camels. By combing, rather than shearing the wool, we are able to produce yarn that is very fine and soft on the skin. The average thickness of the combed hairs is 17-19 microns.

Yak Wool

Sourced from the thick, luxurious undercoat of the Mongolian yak, this fiber is renowned for its incredible warmth and softness. Its natural insulation properties make it an ideal choice for cold climates, as it can provide superior warmth without excessive weight. Additionally, Mongolian yak fiber is hypoallergenic and highly breathable, making it comfortable to wear in a variety of conditions. Its remarkable durability and resistance to pilling further contribute to its desirability in the world of high-quality textiles.

Cashmere

The cashmere produced in Mongolia is distinctive due to its natural luster, warmth, and softness. These unique characteristics make Mongolian cashmere highly sought after by luxury fashion brands and discerning consumers worldwide.

Compared to the industry average of 19 microns, Mongolian Cashmere, or King Fiber, is the longest and thinnest ranging from 13-14 microns, which is considered extremely soft and results in a luxurious handfeel.

Baby Camel Wool

We obtain this wool by combing two-year old camels. By combing, rather than shearing the wool, we are able to produce yarn that is very fine and soft on the skin. The average thickness of the combed hairs is 17-19 microns.

As with the yak wool, we do not dye baby camel wool but sort it into 3 natural color categories: natural white, camel brown and dark brown. Baby camel wool does not absorb dyeing well. Therefore, dyeing it would involve bleaching first and then treating it with a dye of choice. Therefore, the process of dyeing baby camel wool would damage its natural qualities and lose its ecological concept.

Garments made with baby camel wool are durable while being amazingly comfortable for the skin, light and breathable.
